Duane Cross, our former Remodeling Manager, and his wife Verba, along with their four children lived at the Children’s Home for three and a half years. They felt called to go do God’s work there. While there he and Verba were ‘house-parents’ to the “aunties” who took care of the children. As house parents, Duane and Verba would take the aunties to another home they volunteered at, do maintenance, yard work, maintain relationships with child development agencies, where they would have meetings about each child. They would also transport visitors and missionary groups, and host Bible clubs.
Duane has always hoped that we could build a home and donate the proceeds of the home to Jamaica Relief Ministry. We’re happy to say that his dream has come true and we were able to donate over $25,000 to Jamaica Relief Ministries after the sale of the home. God is Good!
